Our client is a well-established, family-owned earthmoving company based in Perth, Western Australia, with over 50 years of experience in civil and mining projects. Built from the ground up by the owner and CEO, the business has a strong reputation for reliability and expertise. While the company’s financial systems require restructuring and optimisation, it remains stable with no risk of administration. They now seek a strategic CFO to streamline operations, guide contraction where necessary, and position the business for future growth.
About the Role:
As the CFO, you will take ownership of the company’s financial health, implementing robust accounting practices, improving reporting accuracy, and identifying opportunities for efficiency and expansion. - Experience in business contraction (cost rationalisation, asset optimisation) followed by strategic expansion.
- Strong technical accounting skills with the ability to implement best practices.
- High-level commercial acumen to identify new revenue streams and business opportunities.
- Leadership in risk management, compliance, and financial governance.
- Ability to work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to align financial strategy with business goals.
- Willingness to mentor and upskill existing finance teams where necessary.
What you’ll bring:
- CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent) with 10+ years in senior financial leadership.
- Proven experience in turnaround environments—fixing financial disarray without insolvency risk.
- Background in construction, mining, or heavy industry (preferred but not essential).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business strategies.
- Expertise in cash flow management, cost control, and financial modelling.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to balance short-term fixes with long-term growth.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
What are the benefits:
- Opportunity to shape the financial future of a respected, long-standing business.
- Autonomy to implement meaningful change with full executive support.
- Competitive remuneration package, including performance incentives.
- Stable company with a strong market position and no debt crisis.
- Flexible working arrangements for the right candidate.
- Pathway to play a key role in expansion and diversification.
- Collaborative, down-to-earth company culture with deep industry expertise.
