About the Role

As the WHS/HSE Superintendent, you will play a key leadership role in driving and maintaining safety standards across project sites. Reporting to the HSE Manager, you will oversee all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance—ensuring that works are completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company and regulatory requirements. You will act as a mentor and subject-matter expert, supporting site teams to achieve best-practice safety outcomes and fostering a culture of accountability and care.

What we need from you:

  • Lead and implement WHS/HSE systems, policies, and procedures across all project operations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to site supervisors and workers on HSE standards.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies on safety performance and compliance.
  • Monitor site safety metrics and report trends to management with recommendations for improvement.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and engagement initiatives.

What you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in HSE roles within construction, mining, or heavy industry.
  • In-depth understanding of WHS legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence positive safety behaviours.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities, with attention to detail.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (highly regarded).
